Smart stem cell fat Grafting For a Youthful Appearance

2017-07-26

Recently, many people are considering fat grafting for their faces due to issues like flat foreheads, sunken cheeks, angular faces, and deep nasolabial folds. Injecting fat into the forehead, cheeks, chin, or nasolabial folds can make the face look smaller and create a youthful, volumized appearance. However, fat grafting has its drawbacks, regarding the survival rate of the grafted fat, which is typically around 40%. This lower survival rate can be disappointing for patients, as it often necessitates injecting excessive amounts of fat initially, leading to an unnatural, overly enhanced appearance.

When excessive fat is injected, it can result in undesirable outcomes such as clumping, sagging, or even calcification, where the fat hardens. It's crucial to improve the survival rate of the grafted fat To achieve long-lasting and natural results. Techniques like micro fat grafting, where fat is injected evenly across multiple layers, and the use of PRP (Platelet-Rich Plasma) mixed with the fat, are common in plastic surgery to enhance fat survival.

Dr. Choi Pyongrim of Lesarts Plastic Surgery emphasizes that the most effective and proven method is stem cell fat grafting. He explains, "Stem cell fat grafting addresses the shortcomings of traditional fat grafting. When fat is grafted along with abundant stem cells, the young stem cells promote the formation of blood vessels between the fat cells and facilitate nutrient supply, preventing the fat from dying and being absorbed. This differentiation into fat cells maximizes the results of fat grafting, allowing for a more desirable volume with less fat."

Stem cell fat grafting not only enhances the survival and integration of the grafted fat but also helps in generating new tissue around the graft site. This can lead to additional benefits such as collagen production, improved skin elasticity, and wrinkle reduction. However, Dr. Choi notes that successful stem cell fat grafting requires specialized equipment, a strict sterile environment, and highly skilled medical professionals.

He advises, "While many clinics offer fat grafting, only a few do it well. To achieve satisfactory results, it is essential to undergo surgery at a hospital with extensive experience and a strong track record of safety."
